Travel Tip
       When in western Indiana visit one of the states smallest  county seats of government, the Vermillion County Courthouse at the old town of Newport. It is a rare experience for travelers from large, heavily populated counties.

How It Started

Wendell Trogdon has been a basketball fan since he saw his first high school game back in the mid-1930s. It was to a basketball game that he took his wife, she reminds him often, on their first date.  In the 50 years since, she has joined him to at least one game every season, traveling with him around the state during the 2003-2004 season. Wendell Trogdon, creator of gifts for men, basketball stories, and Indiana travel

In the meantime, he has covered games for newspapers, written essays about the sports, and authored books about basketball titled No Harm No Foul/Referees are People Too; Basket Cases; Gym Rats; Shooting Stars; and Whistle Blowers.  He also has co-written two other books, Damon-Living a Dream and Damon-Beyond the Glory, with basketball legend Damon Bailey.

Some of his most popular books are about travel in Indiana and make great gifts for men. Among them are Backroads Indiana; Borderline Indiana; U.S. 50: From Washington to St. Louis; Indiana General Stores/Vanishing Landmarks; Main Street Diners/Where Hoosiers Start The Day;  Indiana at Random; and Winding are the Roads.  Others are about life in Southern Indiana from the 1930s and 1950s, the newest of those, The 1930s and 1940s, Pain and Pleasure.

Trogdon retired as managing editor of The Indianapolis News in 1992 after a 38-year career that began as a reporter for the Logansport Pharos-Tribune. 

Trogdon continues to write books and  other publications that make great gifts for all ages.
